Makkala Jagriti started its journey in 2003 with the vision of empowering children from marginalized communities to break barriers and overcome obstacles imposed by their circumstances that prevented them from accessing quality education. What began as a safe, non-threatening learning center in one of Bangalore’s urban poor communities is now a movement that is empowering thousands of disadvantaged children and youth through its unique holistic development model towards maximizing their learning and potential to succeed; and breaking the chain of poverty, illiteracy and unemployment.
